Gym Memberships are FREE to Some Seniors — I’m IN!

November 17, 2021

Gym Memberships are FREE to Some Seniors with Medicare supplement plans — so I’m IN! I’m going to register at the YMCA today and claim my FREE membership with them.

Some Medicare supplemental plans include Silver Sneakers and Renew Active free memberships to participating gyms. I just found out that both of the YMCA’s nearest to where I am offer Renew Active, which is the one my United Health Care policy includes.  Jackie has Humana, so she got her free gym membership with Silver Sneakers.

I tried to register this morning but they don’t take new member application until 9:30 so I’ll be driving back at that time to register. I want to swim during late fall, all winter, and early spring because the weather isn’t good enough to  ride bikes most of the time during those months. I’m committed to staying active and happy.  Walking is okay, but it gets old, and it can get very cold and wet here in the Pacific NW three quarters of the year.

Otter Is One of My Spirit Animals

I think I was a river or sea otter in a past life.

I love the water.

I love doing laps, spinning, swimming underwater, floating, the whole nine yards.

It has been too long since I’ve been able to do that because I always thought gym memberships were out of reach financially, and the lakes and ocean here are too cold for my thin skin. Now I’m feeling super excited again because I have an outlet for that passion.

In Other News…

In fact, I’m so excited about getting into the water again (I’m a Pisces, what can I say?!) that I’m going to be redecorating my bathroom. It’s already painted and has an aquatic theme, but I’m going to embellish it further by adding some whimsical otter-themed items:

Butt Napkins My Lord

Butt Napkins My Lady

Baby Otter Shower Curtain

Wash Your Hands Otter Sign

…and an acrylic crystal with a seahorse (my spirit animal at birth) will go on the top of my bathroom stand where I keep my towels and first aid stuff.

I think it will add some visual joy to my place.  I already have a Critter Corral (stuffed animals and framed images of animals) in my living room, a couple of critter walls in my bedroom, and my den has a couple images of me with critters in it, too, as does my kitchen. I’m an animal nut.  It’s obvious!  I may as well flaunt it!

I’m going to take the sliding doors off my bedroom closet and put this up in their place…

I’m waving goodbye to PTSD (Post Trump Stress Disorder) and reclaiming and embracing my available , freed up energy each new day with joy and gratitude again!
