It took some dedicated research, but I found a moble vet who can prepare Charli’s travel docs and give her the required exams, shots, and parasite treatment for $461, and even less if I want to drive Charli north about 30 miles. Hurray!
But I think I’ll have her come here to Tacoma so Chari doesn’t have to be transported anywhere until we actually fly to Costa Rica. I don’t want to stress her out any more times than I have to. When she came to me as a kitten, she was a complete basket case — a nervous wreck — and I don’t want to re-traumatize her. Since we’ll be together on the plane, I think she’ll be okay (with a little help from Feliway or a calming collar) because I’ll be able to talk to her and hold her carrier on my lap except for when we’re taking off and landing.
Charli’s Travel Costs
So, $450 plus $150 (for the trip itself in the cabin of the plane) is $600. That’s Charli’s cost, not counting her carrier, which I paid about $50 for. I don’t know what my flight is going to cost, and won’t until June when I book it. But I’m taking five or six boxes that I will be checking, so those will add close to $1000 to my fees.
If I had gone any other way with Charli, it would have cost at least $200 more.
It ain’t gonna be cheap! But it will be worth it.
