“Fall Down Go Boom”

January 3, 2026

Well, I finally managed to “fall down go boom” during my walk this morning, but no major harm came of it, luckily!

I knew it was just a matter of time, so I’ve always walked slower on the calle than I normally would. Even so, given the uneven, rocky ground and tens of thousands of loose stones, there was absolutely no doubt it was bound to happen sooner or later. Which is why I’m moving in February, chiefly! (That and steep inclines.) I have almost fallen a number of times.

This time I succeeded, even against my best efforts to avoid it!

I was almost to Calle Los Angeles during my second lap this  morning when I suddenly went down. I didn’t trip, so I guess loose stones underfoot are what sabotaged me.

I fell “carefully.” (As a horseback rider and pratfall practitioner from a young age, I know how to protect myself during falls.)

I landed on the heel of my left hand (got a contact point scrape, is all) and on my left leg and hip (no bloody scrapes there;just dirty/dusty pants!).  Nothing cracked or broke, so I got right back up and kept walking.

The contact point on my left hand bled just enough to clean out the wound, but not enough to drip more than a few extra drops, so I  completed the walk before coming back home, showering, and treating the wound.  My left thumb is a wee bit sore, so I expect that took the brunt of my upper body weight when I went down.

My hip is fine. My spine is fine. All is well.

Diane joined me for the last lap

Before heading back home, I spotted Diane’s dogs in her fenced yard, whining and wagging at me. So I called in to see if she wanted to join me on my last lap or if she just wanted me to take the dogs with me.  She said she wasn’t ready to walk yet (needed her coffee to finish brewing), but I could take the dogs and when I got back, she’d do another lap with me.

So, we did that. We talked about UFO sightings that both of us had in the States. She said Costa Rica has had its share of sightings, too.

We both believe that, in this vast universe, there have to be beings more advanced technologically and intellectually than we humans are. So, although we were certainly awed and startled to personally witness and hear UFOs, we weren’t particularly surprised.

I said to her, “If they’re really intelligent, they lock their doors when they go by Earth, since the powers that be are still warring barbarians here. We aren’t ready to be welcomed into the cosmos, I don’t think!” She laughed and agreed with that!

My clothes are in the drayer (the ones I fell in and a few others) and I’m ready to get on with the rest of my day, so take care and have some fun on this third day of 2026!!!
