Charli’s first three times outdoors in Costa Rica today didn’t last long. There were three reasons for that… all involving other animals.
The first time, it was hot outside. I started by putting her in her harness and holding her leash, but she hated that and kept rolling around and trying to dislodge the harness.
So, since she didn’t appear freaked out by anything other than her bondage, I took it off. That caused her to get up and start wandering around some.

But shortly after she did that, Fiskar came down the walkway in our direction. They’d already had a run in with each other a couple days ago when I inadvertently let Fiskar into our hotel room without knowing and and then went off to dinner. So, Charli spotted him, and he spotted her, and it was instant “oh hell no…” Charli scooted inside and I followed her, closing the door.
After Fiskar took a hike, I carried Charli outside again and put her down in the grass, but then a turkey buzzard swooped overhead, so I put the kibosh on that outing real fast.
After it cooled down substantially, I took her out again. By this time I had put on shorts and a t-shirt and I was wearing crocs. I lifted a chair from the patio area and put it near the fountain sculpture so I could watch Charli at the same time I could watch for turkey buzzards and other potential hazards. But pretty quickly, neighborhood dogs started barking so Charli again decided to call it a day as far as being outside.
I’ll keep at it until she feels good staying out longer under my watchful eye. She’s getting antsy inside more often, so I know she’s looking for a new adventure, as long as it doesn’t involve other animals!
Bloodwork Tomorrow
Tomorrow Topher and I will ride into Grecia together and then split up so he can get to his dentist appt and I can get to Sanchez Medical to have my INR checked. We’ll probably Uber back separately, unless both appts take about the same amount of time. I want to pick up a mug/cup while I’m down there this time, and maybe a cat scratch post, too. They’re ridiculously inexpensive here. I love it!
Saturday Jaunt
Saturday Topher and I are going to Uber over to San Ramon so I can look at a rental and so we can visit the Rainbow Refuge property with Dani Hicks. That’ll be an hour drive each way, so close to $70 but I figure it’ll be worth the cost because I will probably lock in the rental for myself then… and we’ll get to spend more time with Dani and Georgia, two of my newest favorite folks.
Monday is Independence Day
Topher and I will Uber to Grecia on Monday to watch the Independence Day parade on the street we’re on most often whenever we go there. It will be blocked off during the parade, so we’ll have to be let off a few blocks away, but we won’t get lost. We’re practically natives now! LOL!
Tuesday or Wednesday Topher heads back to the States. I think it’s Wednesday. That’s gonna be another sad day. I hate it when people leave!
It’s early but time to hit the hay. I’m weary. But before I go. I must report that Clarkie and Dale are going to donate two lovely lamps to me to help furnish my new abode. How cool is that? I just found out minutes ago when I spotted a message that came in from them.
What a marvelous family I have down here already!!!
