First thing this morning, I went to Winco Foods for the first time since COVID-19 came to town almost a year ago.
I went early, so there were very few people there. Bought lots of human-quality food (mostly for Patches–raw meats) for a lot less than I could get them elsewhere.
I’m always amazed how much less food costs there. Stuff that costs me $4.99 at Albertson’s costs $2.88 at Winco. Insane. I need to shop there more often, even though it’s ten times farther away.
After that, I came home and filled the two-yard barrel that my sister Jackie and I rented to get rid of the post-remodel detritus (from this past summer) from our yard. We filled it once last week, too, so there was a lot of stuff.
There is still at least one load more to come, but it’s all stacked and orderly now, and very near the barrel, so next time it will just take minutes to fill it instead of probably an hour. (Jackie was off playing pickle ball today, so she’ll be surprised and pleased when she gets home to see what I did.)
When the yard stuff is done, if we have any weeks left to the rental, we’re going into our shed and the storage room in our garage to see what we have in them that we never use and what can be donated, put out on the road as freebies, and what can or should be tossed away…
One thing COVID was “good” for was getting things done around the homestead that have needed to be done for years. Since we’re sequestered at home 99% of the time, we keep from going stir crazy by getting stuff done!
This weekend we need to get the fallen trees off the back fence so I can open the pasture to the goats again. They’re in a much smaller space for the time being. They aren’t crunched in any way, but they’re used to having eight to ten times the amount of space they do right now, so I know it’s no fun for them.
In the meantime, I’m spoiling them with extra hay and treats (vanilla wafers) to make up for their “inconvenience” because I’m a pushover for my pets…
In Other News…
I have a new client who was delighted with the sales page I just did for her, so she says she’ll be having me write a press release and two video scripts and improve several of her website pages in pretty short order.
I have another new client who is completing a Content Questionnaire for me, so I should have something to do for her soon, too.
So I have four long-term clients now, two of whom (at least) are going to be recommending me to their clients. It looks like 2021 is going to be a far better year for me than the past several have been–especially The Year of COVID, which was a disaster for me: I had to get federal help (a loan and a grant) to keep my head above water until things turned around–and turn around they have). I hope it stays this way!
