I’m going back to the basics — Nutrition 101. I’ve fallen off the wagon (nutrition-wise) the past month or so but am getting back on today!
It isn’t a matter of weight gain this time. In fact, my weight has remained steady, as I’m not eating as much as I was before, but the quality of what I’ve been eating hasn’t been optimal.
This morning for breakfast, I made a yogurt smoothie with fruit, honey and greens in it and one slice of sourdough bread with a little peanut butter on it (for the protein portion of the meal). For lunch I’ll have either a tuna sandwich or a couple of cod filets. And I’ll drink water for hydration.
EAT BETTER, FEEL BETTER
Whenever I elect to eat better, I feel better. My energy level increases, my stomach stays flat (no gas or bloating), and my stamina improves. This should all be enough to keep me on the right track most of the time.
I have eliminated soda pop entirely unless I’m out and about and having lunch somewhere (which is rare) and I limit my bread intake. That’s why I’m maintaining my weight.
HAVEN’T EXERCISED THIS WEEK AT ALL
I haven’t exercised this week at all, or much last week, which is weird (for me). Having my Fitbit tell me I walked just 5 miles this past week made me feel ashamed! But the weather has been cold and wet and I can’t convince myself to go out when it’s this nasty outdoors, although I have enough clothing to weather any storm that the Pacific NW can throw at me. So what’s happening outside is really no excuse, but I simply haven’t had the energy or inclination, AND THAT IS NUTRITION-RELATED.
So, see, I’m figuring it out. With optimal nutrition, I always feel ready to take on the world. Without it, I can talk myself out of doing good things for my body and health. There you have it! Go and sin no more!
UPDATE: I did a lot more walking than my Fitbit revealed. I had turned off my bluetooth connection and that prevented Fitbit from seeing what I was doing activity-wise. I feel a little better! And I have walked 10K steps twice since I reported this.
SLIDES-INTO-PHOTOS AND PASSPORT PHOTO DONE
In a couple hours, the place where I had 40 slides made into prints and where my passport photo was taken yesterday will open! YES! I’ll be able to go get those and scan them into my PC so I have everything I will need to start my next project.
NEW BOOK, TITLE TO BE DETERMINED
It has been quite some time since I wrote the last book, YAY-SAYERS The Good Guides, so my personal creative juices are seeking an outlet again. Writing for clients for money is fun, and exciting, and lucrative, but there are very few things more exciting (IMO) than seeing one’s own name on the cover of a book!
If I get 20 books out of myself before I croak (I have 16 now) I will probably consider myself “empty” (that is, everything I wish to convey to the outside world will have been conveyed, and I can rest on my laurels… or see if anything else comes along to incite me to write another one).
Because you just never know when the Muse is going to show up and demand, “Write!” I’m always eager for that to happen, but it isn’t a constant thing with me. That’s probably because I spend so much time writing for clients these days. If I didn’t have that outlet on a frequent basis, I’d probably be churning out book after book!
But memoirs will never pay my bills. I’m not a celebrity by any stretch of even the most overactive imagination. My books give me a trickle of passive income, not a torrent. I live for the reviews and emails from readers I get (many of whom become friends) after I write one, NOT for the income. The income doesn’t sustain me, but it helps allow me incidentals (treats for my critters, shoes when I need new ones, stuff like that).
LOW-CONTENT BOOKS
I’ve been reading that well-written, visually pleasing low-content books (journals, coloring books, easy-prompt diary books, etc.) are selling well, so I am considering doing one or more of those, too. Perhaps a memoir-prompting or autobiography-prompting book.
Millions want to write their memoirs and/or autobiogaphies but don’t know how to get started. I have plenty of experience in that. So, that’s an option, too. It’s not as tempting as another memoir on a different aspect of my life, or a complete autobiography of this roller coaster ride that has been my life, but it wouldn’t take much time to do and if it brings in passive income, it’s a good idea! My brain may not always be on-line, so having some passive income coming in is a good preemptive effort in case that ever happens!
So, with that in mind… Iam going to start putting time on my calendar to dedicate to my next project: a book of my own or a low-content book to help other write their own memoirs or autobiographies.
Which would YOU be most interested in seeing come out of me next?
(If I hear crickets, I will know how many people read this post and gave any kind of a damn at the end. hee hee hee)
