I finished Robert Reich’s excellent new book COMING UP SHORT this morning (I highly encourage you to read it) and I’m now well into AN ELEPHANT IN MY KITCHEN (another excellent book for animal lovers).
Back story: I downloaded several books to my Kindle before leaving the States so I’d have something to read on the flight to Costa Rica, but I never got around to reading them then, and I just remembered I had them. So, that’s what I’ve been doing all day, except for the few moments when my groceries arrived, when I cooked rice and ate breakfast and lunch, and when I took brief videos of bird song and the incoming thunderstorm that followed ten minutes later (which you can see/hear on my Facebook page if you’re interested). It’s just amazing how fast the weather can change around here!
On Thursday I plan to take a trip to Grecia for the INR blood draw, unless I decide to wait until Friday to do that. Fridays are the days I get together with Jon, Francisco, Clarkie and Dale for lunch, so I may just wait for the blood draw until then. I probably won’t do the feria this week. Every other week is probably adequate.
I also want to get some more colones out of the bank so I can start putting it aside for my upcoming rent in November. I don’t know how much BECU will allow me to take out per day, so I want to take enough out every week that I have enough to pay the rent in one fell swoop on the first of every month. I only go into town once a week these days.
Mr Fuzzy Grey Pants Visited Again Today
The grey cat came to my front door this morning and peered in through the screen, so I got a little bit of kitty food and put it out for him. I didn’t try to pet him this time. I figure he can make the first move in that direction when he feels ready. I’m in no mad rush to befriend him now that I know he does, for sure, belong to a neighbor. (Just not one of Cat’s relatives.) He sure is a besuty, though. And neutered, so they’re good neighbors and aren’t adding to the overpopulation of pets.

I don’t have much else to share today so I’ll shut up and get back to AN ELEPHANT IN MY KITCHEN

Pura vida!
