AI Questions Posed By My Friend Jeremy Walker — EGGS-ACK-LY!!!

February 13, 2024

There are three Artificial Intelligence questions/concerns Jeremy Walker posed on Facebook:
1.) AI learns from the open source web. A lot of data is innacurate and downright misinformation. This leads to automating discrimination. AI advocates have said they want to continue to diversify their coding staff to address these harms, but once you let it loose in the world, can it really be controlled?
2.) In addition to innacurate information, AI creates its own hallucinations. This is different from sourcing information from faulty sources. It will literally make up an answer and the scary part is it is written as a fact. Unless an expert in that field is reviewing the information there is really no way to know.
3.) AI does not adhere to copyright laws in the creation of art. Unlike artists who mimic other artists, the digital space is much more a literal copy and paste. Then there are those who do the actual coding themselves to generate the art. This can apply to written art , poetry, and perfomance art as well.
4.) As humans who consume information and art, what is our responsibility to ensure the authenticity, accuracy, and copyright matters of the information and art we consume/appreciate?
