Following a busy social week, I’m presently in Recovery Mode, which means I’m isolating and sleeping more than usual.
As an introvert, getting out and about — even completely on my own terms — wears me out. And I have had a very, very busy past week and a half (for me).
- On July 4th, I drove a van full of relatives to the airport so they could begin their vacation to the Dominian Republic. (Round trip time 3 hours) and endured five plus hours of what sounded like a war zone outside my window (Independence Day fireworks) which caused my niece’s car horn to go off three times (it was parked here while they went overseas) while I was doing my best to sleep through it all
- On July 6th, Lisa and I went to the Olympic Peninsula to enjoy Ruby Beach and the Hoh Rainforest. (A 13-hour/15,000 step day day.)
- On July 8th, I attended Tacoma Pride for several hours.
- On July 9th, I appeared on Yazmin Grant’s Siembre radio show talking about transgender issues for 90 minutes.
- On July 11th, Lisa and I went bike riding from Orting to South Prairie and back (15 miles, 4 hours).
- On July 12th, I picked up the vacationers from the airport. Because I had to be at the airport at 8a.m., I had to leave at 6:30 to get there on time. Traffic to Seattle was miserably slow (on a good day, Sea-Tac airpot is just 30 minutes away), so the round trip/pickup time was five hours.
- Also on July 12th, I caught and transported about 25 plecos to Aquarium Paradise.
- On July 13th, I walked 10,000 steps and went shopping at Winco.
- And sometime last week (I don’t recall which days) I wrote copy for two clients (a total of about four hours)
Good Lord! That schedule looks IMPOSSIBLE in hindsight.
No wonder I’ve been sleeping so much this week every chance I get! It all makes total sense now.
I lost three pounds quickly (duh!) and had a sick-feeling stomach for a couple days (until I started back on my nutritious meals protocol and added yogurt to my regimen) so I was sorta worried about feeling so “down and out,” but it all makes perfect sense now! I OVERDID!
Tomorrow there is a Pride Family celebration in Puyallup which I may or may not attend. It starts at 4 and 4 to 5 are the hottest hours here. If it’s in the mid to upper 70’s, I probably will. It’s Puyallup’s 2nd Annual Pride event, and I want to support it. And it’s a potluck and a water drive, so there are additional great reasons to support it. Joe Columbo and Kenneth King will be there, and I expect some other people I know will attend, too, so I’m leaning heavily toward going.I just have to see how I feel about still another event!!! My social meter isn’t very high right now… It took everything I had to drive to Cappy’s Produce this morning to get watermelons for my “chicker-rellies” (chickens). I slept for three hours afterward, even though I had a good night’s sleep last night. My get-up-and go has gotten up and left!
But I’m determined to keep on keepin’on!
