The January 6 Report on the Coup Conspiracy is in print now.
I bought a copy even though I watched all of the proceedings live.
JUSTICE DEMANDS VIGILANCE and FOLLOW-UP !
There are numerous people among my family and friends who have kept their heads planted firmly in the sand, refusing to watch the proceedings. These people firmly believe they are PATRIOTS because they believed Trump’s Big Lie about a “stolen” 2002 election and haven’t looked at the evidence that Trump has knowingly been feeding them (in former Attorney General Barr’s words) “bullshit” to mislead them and inflame their passions.
They fly the American flag from their vehicles and homes in attempts to document their patriotism… or something… but they aren’t willing to look at the evidence that points at the human being most invested in taking away the American way of life. It’s tragic and seriously concerning.
Many of the insurrectionist “foot soldiers” who have already been tried and sentenced have testified that they were responding to the President of the United States’ assertion that the election was stolen from them. They acted as Patriots, they said, before realizing that what Trump had been telling them were bald-faced lies.
And THAT’S tragic!
Trump and the people in power who supported him and willingly spread his lies need to be held accountable for their complicity in attenpting a coup in our Capitol. Period. Those who supported him by refusing to certify the electoral counts should NOT be seated in the New Congress.
Fourteenth Amendment Equal Protection and Rights of Citizens
Section 3 Disqualification from Holding Office
No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice-President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability.
