A Virtual Tour of My Den Commandments

December 4, 2022

Today I thought I would take you on a virtual tour of my Den Commandments.

Once a week, approximately, I walk around (or just spin around in my chair) and re-read them.

They always fill me with renewed energy and lift my spirits.

I hope they do the same for you.

Feel free to print out and put up in your home/office the ones that resonate most with you!

This one changes every month, naturally!

Southern Poverty Law Center Calendar for 2023.

Yes, I’m a lifelong supporter of this organization and they are in my will.

Bernie is out of his box because he’s a true crusader (and I got him several years ago)!

“Faith is believing what you know ain’t so.”

“Man is the only animal that blushes…or needs to.”

“If you tell the truth, you don’t have to remember anything.”

“The man who does not read has no advantage over the man who cannot read.”

“I have never let my schooling interfere with my education.”

“The fear of death follows from the fear of life. A man who lives fully is prepared to die at any time.”

“I do not fear death. I had been dead for billions and billions of years before I was born, and had not suffered the slightest inconvenience from it.”

“A lie can travel half way around the world while the truth is putting on its shoes.”

“Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you, too, can become great.”

“I did not attend his funeral, but I sent a nice letter saying I approved of it.”

“Never allow someone to be your priority while allowing yourself to be their option.”

“I was gratified to be able to answer promptly, and I did. I said I didn’t know.”

“Truth is stranger than fiction, but it is because Fiction is obliged to stick to possibilities; Truth isn’t.”

“What would men be without women? Scarce, sir…mighty scarce.”

“Books are for people who wish they were somewhere else.”

“Don’t part with your illusions. When they are gone you may still exist, but you have ceased to live.”

“Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one’s lifetime.”

“Always do what is right. It will gratify half of mankind and astound the other.”

“Kindness is a language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see.”

“The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why.”

(I could quote him forever… and I frequently do silently!)

Best. Eulogy. Ever. For. This. Man. Period.

Robert Francis Kennedy — forever in my heart…

Wolf — one of my spirit animals

Serval — one of my heart animals!

What can I add to this?  Nothing.  This is ME in words and pictures. My very soul is encapsulated here. This reflects me at my best.

(Alas, I am not always at my best, but revisiting these on a weekly basis sets me back on track every time!)
