My regular co-host Hannah McCrane and I will be there, and some other co-hosts may join us, too. I finally located the fun “Doggie De” and “Kitty Carolyn” outtakes from the professional photo shoot that Bill Dow did of the Kelley’s at my place back in 1991, so I’ll be showing those there for the first time ever.

This is one of the photos taken on the same day as the “Doggie De” and “Kitty Carolyn” ones were.

The photo shoot story is in my book DeForest Kelley Up Close and Personal: A HARVEST OF MEMORIES from the Fan Who Knew Him Best.”

Here’s the excerpt, in case you haven’t read the book yet or have forgotten the anecdote

When it was time to shoot the photos, Bill got several of De and Carolyn together. While they sat for those, we chatted and laughed—a lot! At one point, Bill apologized to them, saying that he was more accustomed to photographing wild animals up at Shambala or dogs and cats—at which time De assured him, “Oh, that’s all right!” and he began to bark! Carolyn jumped right in and began to meow! I took my cue from their silliness and grabbed a few squeaky toys from Bill’s bag of tricks and began to squeak them and call to “doggie” De and to “kitty” Carolyn, in the way a pet photographer would in order to get an animal’s proper attention for the camera. De and Carolyn cracked up; so did Bill and I, and Bill caught the hilarity in a couple of photos. Bill then asked Carolyn if she’d like a few photos alone with the newly-acquired Poppy (a black and white kitten, whom Deaken had promptly adopted). Deaken was still in the yard, not amenable to having his nap spoiled by the goings on beneath the patio roof. Carolyn said yes, eagerly, so Bill took several photos of her with Poppy. Then Bill asked De if he’d like to sit for a few pictures. When De said he would, Bill asked him, “Which is your good side?” (knowing that some actors have a preference). De responded, “I don’t have a good side!”

I objected, telling Bill, “De doesn’t have a bad side!”

Just as the photo session appeared to be over, De motioned to me and said, “Get over here, Kris. We want our picture taken with you.”

I was flabbergasted! I sputtered, “But, I’m dressed for Deaken. I’m not dressed for a photo session!” I looked real frumpy.

De wouldn’t take no for an answer. “Well, go change, then!”

I said, “Good heavens! Why? Are you serious?”

He was.

Then Carolyn directed me, “Go get changed!”

I quickly bolted inside the house, threw on a blue turtleneck shirt, and then returned. Bill sat me on a chair between De and Carolyn, and one of my favorite photos of all time was snapped at that moment. I’ll always be grateful De thought of that, and insisted.

FURNITURE FINDS FOR BEN (AND ME)

Yesterday I spotted someone on Facebook getting rid of a lot of her stuff prior to a move, and some of what she had works great for Ben’s new apartment, so Lisa and I drove to Orting to get a recliner and octagonal storage cabinet for Ben. I got an a gorgeous antique New England coffee table for just $20 for myself.  It goes great in my living room/Critter Corral next to the cabinet Dad built of us decades ago.

Here is a photo of it and the bottom of the drawer …

The pullout drawer has this as the base of the wooden floor!  Ads from 1875!

Today’s Doings

Among the things I’ll be doing today (most of them here at home) will be taking Ben Taylor to the Xfinity store in Lakewood so he can order their services to his new apartment. That will reconnect him to the Internet and TV so he can start interacting again on Facebook.

Yesterday afternoon/evening Lisa and I brought dinner to him and stayed and ate with him (after dropping off his new recliner and cabinet) and he mentioned needing to get to the Xfinity store to order their services. I volunteered to be his wheels today; Lisa has three consecutive 12-hour caregiving days ahead of her and we both have a final move-out clean-up to do at his old place on Monday, so we didn’t want to  make him wait that much longer to get connected.

I need to finish the script for a live show for a client today, too. (Well, I don’t need to, but I want to.  I don’t like leaving things half-finished. I’m a little OCD that way!)

What else?  I guess that’s just about all!

So, I’ll shut up now and let you get on with your day!
