Sunday Walkies and Shopping Details

March 1, 2026

Sunday March 1st walkies and shopping details.

Nothing earth shaking, just my life in Pura VidaLand! Heaven on earth!

First thing this morning…

I moved my expediente doc from my suitcase to my passport holder since my time here will exceed the 180-days passport stamp in just a few days (March 4th). I may need it to prove my legitimacy here if I’m ever stopped by the authorities for some reason. I haven’t been yet, but ya just never know.  Emergency? Travel/bus accident?  Whatever, I will be prepared with the proper documentation to prove I’m here legally while my pensionado status makes its way through the system.

Also “laminated” my feria and Grecia default shopping lists

…using clear scotch tape so I don’t wreck them or need to keep writing them. Misc/infrequent items can — and will — go on a disposable list. So, for example, this week’s disposable list reads tennis shoes, mouthwash and toothpaste, things I don’t pick up nearly every time I shop.

Lisa is actively seeking homes for her “kittens”

…(all neutered and spayed) that two stray cats s delivered outside her apartment last year. That’s her first step toward freeing herself from unnecessary expenses. If you’re in the Tacoma area and know of someone looking for a lovely, well-socialized year old spayed or neutered cat, please reach out to her at lisa@dancinggoatwebdesign.com. She has photos an personality descriptions of each of the sweeties that are available.  Two of them, Tippi and Tyler (yes, Tippecanoe and Tyler too!) should go to the same loving home and family because they’re bonded to each other in a really precious way.

When Lisa isn’t working as a CNA and caregiver up to 70 hours per week, she is working to get FloofsCafe.com and DancingGoatWebDesign.com to start earning more non-physically demanding income for her so she can reduce the amount of hours she spends as a caregiver for people who need lifting, turning, bathing and dressing. At her age and with her back issues, she needs to start segueing to less physical labor sooner rather than later.

This morning’s outing

This morning I took my freezer bag and cart down to “three corners” (San Isidro proper) so I coule shop after circling the futbol field seven times.

Did something different this morning, too:  instead of walking counter-clockwise around the futbol field on the track all seven times, I reversed course and walked three times around clockwise before reversing course again, just to mix things up a little. Doing so gave me “reverse perspective” on the field, too, so I saw things I hadn’t noticed before:

CU of San Isidro Church across from futbol field

Futbol field with church and cloudy ridge beyond it…

CU of homes on a slight ridge across from the futbol field

Regular shot of the same image from above,

but more of the futbol field shows here…

one side of the futbol field has sugar cane crops growing on it

beyond the hedges you see here

After I finished walking around the futbol field

…I walked up the hill to the little mini mart to buy three tomatoes, a package of bacon, a package of chicken burritos, a small carton of milk, a small carton of nectar and ice cream. I got a couple packets of Tang, too.  I think that was all.

Then I dragged the cartful of groceries back up the hill (600 meters) to my place, made a BLT sandwich for breakfast ans drank a cup of peach nectar.  All before 8:30 a.m.!

GOD, I LOVE IT HERE!

It’s paradise, pure and simple.

Hard to believe I’ve been here in San Isidro a month already, and in Costa Rica for half a year in a few days. I’m still enthralled every morning when I open my eyes. Pura Vida suits me to a “t.” Es perfecto para mi!

What’s NOT to love about this beautiful, peaceful, kind country?  Can’t find a thing — I’m too busy apprecating what I can see and feel to go looking for slight, picayune imperfections.

Costa Rica is my home forever and ever, amen.
