Busy Fun Week Ahead!

February 16, 2026

We have a fun, busy week scheduled for Lisa’s final days here in Costa Rica. We’ll take lots of pictures so you don’t miss out on any of it!

We’re scheduling her last five days with as many “fill-in-the-blanks” as possible. She wants to visit downtown Grecia once or twice via bus, so she can ride on Tico transit, and we hope to see Jon and Francisco again before she flies out on Friday. They’re super busy, so that may not happen but if it’s going to, it will have to be on one of those two days.

This morning, we leave at 8:30 to visit Sarchi’ (a half-day outing) to find souvenirs and get cat litter and maybe a few groceries if time allows.

Wednesday we visit La Paz Waterfall Gardens (probably an all day outing) to see more Costa Rica critters and butterflies and maybe — maybe! — the five waterfalls that are there if there’s a bus to return us to the Gardens afterward. Jon says the ascent from the waterfalls is steep, difficult and close to 1000 steps, and if it’s “Costa Rica warm and humid” there and without serious shade, that won’t work for me!  Rescate was my limit for “warm and humid exertion”!

Update:

We were back home at about 11. We hit all the places we wanted to, plus a fruit stand on the way back and a Pollolandia place in Stanta Gertrudis on the way back.

Adilio helped me carry in the 44-pound sack of cat litter and managed to keep a cheerful countenance the whole time, even though it was “caliente” outside and we dawdled for a good (or better) 45 minutes in the souvenir place while Lisa decided which treasures to buy to take home.

She wanted to get useful souvenir items to take home, but most of the useful options were either too big or too expensive, or she already had something like what was on offer, so she had to settle for other things, but she likes them all! She’ll have a few more chances to find things in Grecia tomorrow and Thursday, so all is not lost yet in the souvenir-hunting department!

On the way back, I told Adilio were were having a great time and asked if he was. He hesitated super briefly before responding, “Sure!” so I laughed and then joked to him: “Liar, liar, pants on fire!” explaining that phrase to him. He is a gem.  We had so much fun.  He’s probably keeping how much fun he had to himself. (“These gringos are whackadoodle!”)
