Buenas Tardes. Good afternoon.
I have been a lazy bum today. Other than taking the wet garbage to the main road and taking a few more pictures on the way back, all I’ve been doing all day is piddling around in between putting away the groceries that were delivered earlier, starting a chicken cooking in the crock pot, and studying more Spanish.
I’m 50 pages away from the end of MADRIGAL’S MAGIC KEY TO SPANISH (for the second time in six months), so I should finish it this week sometime. I didn’t study every day this week the way I had planned to because I became engrossed in THE ADVENTURES OF HUCKLEBERRY FINN during my waking hours.
TODAY’S POSY PIX
Here are a few more posy pix taken today during my walk to the main road and back. (The pic next to this blog entry’s headline was taken then, too. It’s today’s favorite!)

I went to the main road so early today that I didn’t see anyone else on Calle Esteban Salas — for the first time in days! It felt kinda lonely!
YELLOW/RED ALERT
When I got up this morning I noticed that the indicator on the surge protector/refrigerator monitor device that stands between the refrigerator cord and the wall socket was alternating between yellow and red, so I hunkered down to see what that was all about. It never cycled to green/ON during the 40 or so minutes that I monitored it, so I texted my landlady to report the issue, because every time the indicator was red (which was at least half the time), there was no power to the fridge. The information on the device said the monitoring cycle takes just four minutes, so I knew something was wrong, especially since it never changed to GREEN/fridge powered at all!
After two hours, I tried plugging the fridge cord directly into the wall, and the fridge lit up again, so I reported that via text to Cat. She texted me to say she will have her husband pick up a replacement for the surge protector because the one that isn’t working may have been zapped during the last thunderstorm.
(It turns out Cat had texted me back even earlier, but I hadn’t seen the text. When she came by to get the device, she asked if I had seen her response, and I told her I hadn’t. My phone doesn’t notify me when a WhatsApp message comes in. I need to find a way to correct that since I get most of my comms thru it down here.)
Today doesn’t feel like Saturday to me
That’s a bummer. But then, what do I need with weekends, because I’m retired and every day is more or less like a Saturday to me.
It’s 1:13 and I feel like taking a nap, so I will while my crockpot chicken gumbo finishes its final couple hours of cooking. It sure smells good in here. I hope the meal will taste as great as it smells when it’s time to eat dinner! I’m gonna put it on a base of white rice and drink peach nectar to wash it down.
Can’t wait, but have to!
I’m NOT a cook by any stretch of the imagination, but my crock pot meals (so far) have always turned out great. I’ll let you know how this one turns out.
