I’m allowing myself one political post per month.

 

But I shouldn’t call it political.

 

I should call it existential these days.

 

My trans brothers and sisters (and theydies and gentlethems) are fleeing the United States as fast as they humanly can. They’re seeking sanctuary or asylum wherever they can find it in the world — which is in most civilized countries.

 

They’re familiar with history and they know that the fascism in the U.S. has gotten completely out of control.

 

I don’t know what you people are doing who are still up there, but if it isn’t loudly and officially protesting to your representatives, you’re no friend of the country you inhabit. You’re taking up space.

 

Call your representatives in Congress every single day — it will take just two minutes of your time — and tell them to start upholding the oath they swore  when they raised their right hands:

to defend the Constitution from all enemies, foreign and domestic.

 

What’s happening up there is horseshit

 

Federal military troops deployed to Portland Oregon, where nothing is going on.   (Troops, you do not have to obey illegal orders. And it is 100% illegal for you to do what you’re doing now.  Congress has not authorized your activity. REFUSE, or expect to face full military tribunals when this  madness ends and the people who are in power re-embrace the rule of law!!!!)

 

Project 2025 is the Nazi playbook in spades, resurrected from the era of the mustache man. If you’re actively engaged in deploying it, you are an enemy of your country (and you know it), so you will be held to account.

 

I am so disgusted by what I’m seeing right now, just since leaving the US for a safer existence three and a half weeks ago.  Trans people have been deemed terrorists and subject to institutionalization.  Reallllllly?!  For what offense — daring to be ourselves?!

Get a clue, will you? You know trans people.  Maybe they haven’t felt safe enough to tell you, but look around. They’re there. They’re people you love and admire. They’re people you trust.

 

Ask yourself:

 

WHO is making your life most miserable right now? 

 

Trans people?  LGBTQIA+ people? Brown people? Black people?

 

How many of these people have personally accosted you or anyone else you know???

 

I’m (confidently) guessing close to ZERO!

 

So who’s making your life miserable, then?

 

It’s white male Christian Nationalist supremacists, oligarchs and plutocrats are who are making you miserable. They’re doing everything they can to make you less well off safety-wise and financially (so they can control you more readily), to keep you fearful of others “taking your stuff or your life”, and to make sure you’re so hungry for genuine security (which is impossible to achieve or to deliver)  that you rely on them to take care of things, no matter how many other people get hurt or killed in the process.

 

Amazon, WalMart, Facebook and Silicon Valley are not your friends

 

They’re proactively funding the fascist regime that you’re experiencing today. They were in the catbirds’ seats at T-WRECK’S inauguration. They’ve kissed the ring, bent the knee, kissed the ass.

 

Deprive them of your money. Spend less time scrolling and more time actively calling and protesting what’s happening.

 

Be a hero, not a zero, in this existential battle between democracy and autocracy.

 

I’m watching you. I’m with you. I will vote for democracy in the forthcoming elections — every damn’ time.

 

If you aren’t registered to vote,  register to vote.

 

If you are registered to vote, make sure you haven’t been removed from the voting rolls. (This is happening in a lot of red states to hundreds of thousands of marginalized people.)

 

Get others who are seeing the light (a great many are, whether they’re ready to admit it or not) to register to vote. Appeal to their patriotism, to their sense of fair play and decency, to their commitment to civil-ization!

 

If we don’t settle this decisively at the ballot box in 2026, we won’t get another chance

 

Time is short and the water rises.

 

I’m out of there. I’m safe.

 

It’s up to you to save yourselves by saving your nation.

 

Do. It. Daily.

 

Your kids and grandkids are counting on you.

 

Your marginalized fellow citizens are counting on you.

 

I’M counting on you.
