Good morning, dear ones!
First thing this morning, early, I walked my bag of basura (trash) to the main road. Pickup is Mondays and Thursdays but the container for it is always sitting there, so it’s possible to put stuff in there on any day. And by pickup day it’s usually crammed full. This morning it was almost empty except for items that have fallen out of bags.
La primera cosa esta mañana, temprano, caminé mi bolsa de basura a la carretera principal. La recogida es los lunes y jueves, pero el contenedor para él siempre está ahí, por lo que es posible poner cosas allí en cualquier día. Y para el día de recogida suele estar lleno. Esta mañana estaba casi vacío excepto por los artículos que se han caído de las bolsas.
I’m planning to take a bus or Uber in to Grecia this morning to get some more colones. It turns out I had $220 (in USD) less than I wanted to give my landlady. I wanted to pay her the $25/day for being here from Sept 20th to 30th plus October’s rent ($750) plus the security deposit ($750) all at once, and I came up short to do that. I want to rectify that today and get some extra in my pocket so I can visit my amigo Jose at the Mini Super Bogantes and get some of the things I didn’t order at Mas por Menos — bread, laundry detergent (detergente para la ropa), and a couple bottles of soda pop (refrescos or gaseosa). I will probably go pretty early this morning so I can get back before it heats up down there and before the afternoon thunderclouds come in.
Estoy planeando tomar un autobús o Uber a Grecia esta mañana para conseguir más colones. Resulta que tenía $220 (en USD) menos de lo que quería darle a mi casera. Quería pagarle los $25/día por estar aquí del 20 al 30 de septiembre más el alquiler de octubre ($750) más el depósito de seguridad ($750) todo a la vez, y me quedé corto para hacer eso. Quiero rectificar eso hoy y conseguir algo extra en mi bolsillo para poder visitar a mi amigo José en el Mini Super Bogantes y conseguir algunas de las cosas que no pedí en Mas por Menos — pan, detergente para ropa, y un par de botellas de soda (refrescos o gaseosa). Probablemente me iré bastante temprano esta mañana para poder volver antes de que se caliente allí abajo y antes de que lleguen las nubes tormentosas de la tarde.

It isn’t very windy here where my casita is. I’m sure that’s because the hill behind me (to the east) shelters it from wind gusts coming from that direction, So, unless the gusts come from the west across the valley floor, I won’t hear much from them. That’s okay. If they were chiming all the time, that wouldn’t be ideal, either! I love my wind chimes, but not 24/7/365!
No hace mucho viento aquí donde está mi casita. Estoy seguro de que es porque la colina detrás de mí (al este) lo protege de las ráfagas de viento que vienen de esa dirección, así que, a menos que las ráfagas vengan del oeste a través del valle, no escucharé mucho de ellos. Eso está bien. Si estuvieran sonando todo el tiempo, eso no sería ideal, tampoco! Me encantan mis campanas de viento, ¡pero no 24/7/365!
Charli has adapted completely to this place already
It’s so quiet and peaceful here that Charli has settled in wonderfully well. The next door neighbor on my side hill gets busy during the day clearing his property of old boards and fallen branches, so Charli steers clear of that side of the house when he’s doing that and spends most of her time in the tangle of bushes on the left side of this place, or on the porch. My landlady’s dogs are just down the driveway from us, so she steers clear of that area, too. She has literally acres to explore in the undergrowth, where she’s perfectly safe from predators. And within minutes of the first drops of rain, she comes back to the porch to be let in.
She’s one happy camper.
Es tan tranquilo y pacífico aquí que Charli se ha instalado maravillosamente bien. El vecino de al lado en mi colina lateral se ocupa durante el día limpiando su propiedad de tablones viejos y ramas caídas, por lo que Charli dirige lejos de ese lado de la casa cuando él es doig eso y pasa la mayor parte de su tiempo en el enredo de arbustos en el lado izquierdo de este lugar, o en el porche. Los perros de mi casera están en la entrada, así que ella también se aleja de esa zona. Ella tiene literalmente acres para explorar en la maleza, donde está perfectamente a salvo de los depredadores. Y minutos después de las primeras gotas de lluvia, vuelve al porche para entrar.
Ella es una campista feliz.
