OOPSIE!

I failed to get a required State Department STEP printout of my name and address in Washington translated to Spanish — even though the words and address numbers are exactly the same in English and Spanish!!!

Who would think such a thing would even be required?  Not ME! But the words preceding the name and address are in English (e.g. “Personal Information  For your convenience, certain services will pre-fill forms with your information…”)  so those default words have to be translated to Spanish to pass muster.

Alas! It seems red tape is universal.  All in good time, all in good time…

I have a call in to the translator with images of the page(s) to be translated. Hopefully she can turn it around fast so we can go back next Wednesday morning (Jon’s only availability next week) or the following week.

Jon  and Adilio took it all in good stride. I was the one feeling bad for not having all my ducks in a row. Every other document and item was checked off and found to be in compliance by the attending customer service rep. And earlier, Jon even complimented me on having it all in order and so well organized. (He didn’t realize the English version didn’t have its Spanish counterpart, either, when he went through the paperwork on our way in. Easy to miss, and I never knew it was needed, so I didn’t realize it was missing.)

Hey, so far everything has gone so well that a little hiccup like this (in retrospect) will feel more like a scratch than a bump!  It won’t matter a bit later on. It just smarts right now! WAAAHHHH!!!
