Last night I did a “dry run” and packed absolutely everything that needs to go into my two pieces of luggage and one carry on except for my two small vials of meds and a small credit card-sized external hard drive. It will all fit (just barely), but the carry on is going to be heavy — close to 25 pounds.
I had to keep shifting stuff from bag to bag and then reweighing the bags (quite the dead weight workout!) to keep them both just under 50 pounds. That was fun (not!). One of my dress shoes will fly in my carry on because I couldn’t get it into either bag without going over 50 pounds. Sheesh!
DeForest Chatted with Me! AMAZING!
At one point, I lowered a bag to the floor from the bed after I’d weighed, closed and locked it as a “done deal.” A minute or so after I did this, from inside the bag, De’s voice came out: “This is DeForest again, Kris, just callin’ to check up on you. So, when you get a chance, give me a buzz.”
Yes, I had loaded my “audio memory cube” into the suitcase and — it would appear, at first blush — that the button that activates it got pressed when I lowered it to the floor.
But it had sat quietly for more than a minute without being jostled, so I’m taking it as an additional sign that De is still checking up on me. I even jostled it again to see if I could get him to speak a second time. No dice!
So, I’m convinced. DE still has my back!

Charli’s Image Graces the Two Checked Bags
As you can see in the image at the top of this post, Charli’s image will make my two pieces of luggage stand out when they come out the chute and onto the luggage carousel. I will also send a picture of it to the Villas Escondidas driver to they will know what to look for as they’re searching for me/us. Laurie Barron says he will have a sign with my name on it, but in case he spots me before I spot him, he can wave the sign in my face in case I’m semi-oblivious after almost 18 hours of travel. LOL!
Can you tell I’m ready to get this show on the road???
FAREWELL DINNERS
Jackie is making porcupine meatballs (my favorite!) tonight, since there are only a few meals left that we’ll be sharing. Bless her heart. She asked what I wanted and I told her. Even though they are no one else’s favorite meal, they are mine, atop mashed potatoes. YUM!!! It’s our mother’s recipe.
Guess that’s all the news that’s fit to print at this time! Carry on!
