This afternoon my WONDERFUL insurance broker — Katheryn Evans, owner of Strategic Sound Solutions in Puyallup, WA — got my travel and health insurance squared away. WOO HOO! I am free and clear to navigate on that front now. This woman is like a ferret (in a good way): she gets the info that best serves her clients no matter what she has to go through to get it. She’s as thorough and knowledgeable as they come. I highly recommend her!
I just need to get MediSmart soon after I land in Costa Rica and I’ll feel as fully covered as I need to be until the first of the year…. and after the first, too, if I’m not approved for CAJA coverage by then. (Which I probably won’t be. It usually takes at least six months to get an immigration application through the system.)
Now I’m just waiting for 5:30 p.m. to roll around so I can head for Yen Ching for my farewell dinner with Boh.
Charli’s on Hemp!
For the last few days I’ve been giving Charli one or two hemp-based calming treats. They affect her just enough to cause her to recline as if she’s made of liquid when she stretches out on me. She’s more laid back than I’ve ever seen her.
She had a difficult, anxiety-driven start in life, so she has always been quick to flee when she sees a new person or hears a sudden sound. On these hemp treats, she is noticeably less anxiety prone. And I’m absolutely delighted.
The mobile vet gave Charli a gabapentin prescription that can go as long as two weeks if need be. That’s in case our relocation causes her to continue to have “new change” anxiety for longer than just the plane trip. Great plan. (It’s always best to be prepared for unexpected kitty cat anxieties!)
Finger Poke Tomorrow
Tomorrow morning I drive to the coumadin clinic for my last finger poke on this side of the move.
Last time I went, my INR level had dropped to 1.6. It should hover between 2.0 and 3.0, so they upped the dosage two days a week to bring me back within the right parameters.
I will make an appointment as soon as I get to Costa Rica to have the INR level checked again during the third week I’m down there, unless tomorrow’s result makes it imperative that I do it sooner. If that happens, I will ask one of my contacts in CR to make an appointment for me for the appropriate date (to be set by the clinic here). I will just have to make sure to apply for MediSmart before I go in for the CR finger poke so the cost will be lower than it otherwise would be… No biggy!
Katheryn Evans exclaimed, “You look SO healthy!”
That sounded fabulous! But hey, I doubt I’d be going anywhere if I wasn’t feeling like a million dollars and like I’ll live to 100! I’m moving partly because I can’t afford to live to 100 if I stay here. You know the rest of the reason. I won’t belabor that anymore because I want to segue away from “old news” and fully focus on “good news”!
I wish I had remembered to get a selfie with Katheryn. I will get one when she flies down to see me Costa Rica in 2026 or 2027!
And I’ll do my best to try to remember to get one with Boh this evening.
I’m terrible at remembering to photographically document my doings! I’d better get over that! I will have a lot of new things to document visually in just a little over a week from now!
I Chatted with Billie Rae Walker this afternoon for about 45 minutes
I was delighted to get a call from Billie Rae this afternoon not long before I headed to my appointment with Katheryn. She is always such delight to chat with. She called to wish Charli and me well and to let me know she will be praying for us to have a wonderful life and fun times in Costa Rica.
Enjoy your evening!
