Walked With and Without Charli Early This Morning

August 22, 2025

I walked early this morning, first with Charli in her carrier around the back yard.

Then I walked myself around the 32-block route surrounding my home address.

So, I’m at 6522 steps already for the day (at only 9:22 a.m).

Yesterday I walked more than 13K steps

I walked twice in addition to walking Charli around the back yard that day and going shopping all over the place.

Charli has grown quite accustomed to the carrier routine! She even slept on its open front door last night for part of the night, whenever she wasn’t sleeping on me.

I Have a UTI Again

I will get on a course of antibiotics today to take care of it. I’ve also bought an OTC cranberry supplement to ward off  routine/chronic e coli issues. (The older we get, the more prone we are to UTI’s, I’m told.)

I’ll also buy some Greek yogurt to take during the last few days I’m on the antibiotics.

The nurse says these are good solutions for people who get UTI’s as often as I’m prone to getting them. Hurray!

My smart watch reminds me to drink water every 90 minutes, sixteen hours a day, to be sure I’m staying adequately hydrated.

With only one working kidney, I have to give it all the assistance I can to keep it robust!

It’s Friday.

In two weeks I will be experiencing my first full day in Costa Rica.   *sigh*

I will have (probably) spent the first day recuperating from the long flight with Charli, except for buying a few things for the fridge at the local pulperia.  And I will have languished in the pool, probably!  I’m very much looking forward to getting into that pool (I’m convinced that I was a river otter or dolphin in another life!) and to meeting the people I’ve been chatting virtually with for months on end.

Friday might see me with new friends attending the Grecia feria (local farmers’ market), if that’s a routine outing for the gang. If not, I’ll just plan to veg for four days until the first San Jose trip on Sept 9th, unless I can get in to Grecia for a SIM card and portable CR phone number over the weekend.

The first few days are all up in the air, after being literally up in the air (or otherwise enroute from the States) for the better part of 18 hours.

How Soon Can I Connect Again?

I hope to get connected to the internet almost upon arrival so I can let you know we’ve arrived, but don’t hold your breath if you don’t hear from me on the 4th or even on the 5th.  I’ll do my best to connect quickly, of course, but there might be other priorities to pursue before I get to that point.  I will connect via Facebook, if my phone allows me to, without a CR SIM card.

I’m not sure yet how it will all work… I’m not technical in the least!

Consumer Cellular  – Hello!

I need to get back to Consumer Cellular to make sure they ironed out the unlocking issue. I haven’t received a follow-up call or an email from them about that yet. I did call and talk to a CSR yesterday who told me that the phone was reportedly unlocked but when she tried to confirm that (by whichever method she uses), she couldn’t, so she is still on the hunt for a confirmed resolution.

If they can’t get it unlocked, I guess they still have time to get a replacement to me that is unlocked before I fly away. I definitely need a phone that can accept a CR SIM card when I get down there!  My plan doesn’t have roaming charges. (That’s good! Int’l roaming charges are insane.) IF they send me a new unlocked phone, I’ll have to take it to my local CC store to have them move the info over, if that’s the case.  UGH!  That would be a time-consuming extra step that I wasn’t anticipating.  (Let’s not borrow trouble. Let’s presume they’ll get it figured out.)

I reckon that’s all for now.  Enjoy your day!
