Lisa Came Over Today & We Got a Lot Done

August 13, 2025

Lisa came over this morning and we got a lot done!

First, we shopped at Winco and Costco.

Then we came home (here to my place) and got into her shed to move what’s left in it to the other/larger shed so Jackie can park the lawnmower in the smaller one.

After that, we intended her to move the info from my desktop to my new laptop, but it wasn’t up to snuff power-wise, so she will do that tomorrow afternoon. So, instead, we sat and chatted for quite a while, which was marvelous.

She is planning to take some more time off between now and the time I fly south so we can spend more time together.  I’m immensely grateful for that; I know it’s a huge sacrifice to give up income just to hang with me while she still can. (I teared up expressing my gratitude to her for that.)

MY INR LEVEL HAS PLUMMETED

The very first thing I did this morning — before Lisa and I got underway — was get my finger poked. My INR level is down to 1.6 — it’s supposed to be between 2.0 and 3.0 — so they’ve boosted me and I will go back on the 27th to see if it’s back up to par. They asked if I’d missed any doses recently, and I said I don’t believe so, but it’s possible I may have missed a dose on Saturday or Sunday. I’m sure it will be back up to par before I fly away. 1.6 isn’t all that faraway from 2.0 and they’ve upped my dose two days a week from 2.5 mg to 5 mg.

IT HAS BEEN HOT HERE LATELY!

It has been hotter here than in Grecia and San Ramon Costa Rica for the past few days –in the high 80’s and low 90’s. I’m staying out in it as much as I can (safely) to acclimate myself before I fly down.

It rarely exceeds 80 degrees in the microclimates I’ve chosen, but the humidity is quite a bit higher, so it will  feel more like the middle to upper 80’s there.  And there is no air conditioning where I’ll be staying — just fans and a dehumidifier.

Jackie always has the AC cranked up here in this abode. Sometimes I end up wearing a jacket in the house!  So, there will be a period of adjustment, for sure!

I have lots of cooling devices, though, so I should be fine.  It isn’t like I’ll be digging ditches down there! I’ll usually just be vegging, like a real live almost 75 years old retiree, for the first time in my life. WHEE!!!
