Here is my final piece re the November Election and why I believe that voting BLUE up and down the ballot is crucial to save our democracy.
In November (and before that, for millions of voters) we have a stark, crucial choice to make: saving democracy from the internal and external forces arrayed against it, or relinquishing America after nearly 250 years to individuals, groups and nations that want to see it fail spectacularly as fast as possible.
1.) The next POTUS (if they so choose, as DJT surely will!) will enjoy heretofore unlimited power as a result of executive immunity given it by the far-right Justices on the present Supreme Court, two of whom were known womanizers before their appointments, and three of whom should have recused themselves from ruling on Trump’s cases since they have proven themselves to be in thrall to his intemperate behaviors and tactics.
2.) Project 2025, the Heritage Foundaton’s playbook for the next GOP administration, is super scary, not only for what it states outright, but for what it doesn’t say when it comes to how to implement the many changes that are proposed in it.
3.) HARRIS is a competent, and a tough-but-compassioate former prosecutor and Attorney General. TRUMP is a failed businessman, a 34-times convicted felon (with scores of additional pending and in various stages of prosecution in three different states), a convicted sexual predator, a serial huckster, and a congential liar who lauds and applauds dictators Viktor Orban, Vladimir Putin, Kim Jong Un, and others who think nothing of murdering their political oppnents.

But the bottom line is that Trump is everything our Founding Fathers were trying to EJECT from corridors of power. He is interested only in his own selfish pursuits. The people pulling his strings consider him a useful idiot since he wants the position but has no interest in actually doing the work. He will allow others to do “whatever the hell they want” as long as they continue to kiss his ass, tell him he’s wonderful and that he’s the best POTUS of all time.
TRUMP NEEDS TO LOSE, based on his lifelong track record.
HARRIS DESERVES TO WIN, based on her career track record and merits.
DO WHAT’S BEST FOR AMERICA. COUNTRY OVER PARTY.
THE GOP AS IT IS CURRENTLY CONSTUTUTED, IS UNAMERICAN. Literally hundreds of GOP folks (a great many of them high-profile and former Trump administration officials) have been sounding the alarm and encouraging voters to choose Harris-Walz.
YOU KNOW THE ASSIGNMENT. No one needs to know how you voted. Keep it a secret if you fear that saying it loud and proud will put you at any risk with others. (That itself is sad commentary.) Just do what it takes to save America from its worst impulses so you can happily (and proudly!) celebrate its 250th year in 2026 knowing you did what was necessary in your own time to extend it beyond your lifetime.
